Cantina Mesa, Moro Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2021
Cantina Mesa, Moro Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2021
The Cannonau "Moro" is one of those wines that, sip by sip, magically transports us to its place of origin. Cannonau, one of Sardinia's most important native grape varieties, is expertly crafted by Mesa Winery, located just a few kilometers from the municipality of Carbonia. The winery takes an extremely territorial approach, resulting in a wine that is impactful and expressive with each sip, offering a clean aromatic profile to the nose. A warm, flavorful bottle that can be opened in 3-4 years to enjoy its evolved character.
Ruby red with violet reflections, intense and clean, featuring notes of ripe red fruit, geranium, wild violet, and white pepper.
Warm and flavorful, with fruity aromatic trails and lively tannins.
Given its medium body, warmth, and smoothness, the "Moro" pairs perfectly with rich and flavorful dishes. Consider pairing it with an ethnic dish like chili with meat and beans, or a vegan version of chili. Other options could include an aromatic first course like egg lasagna with eggplant, or a complex main course like beef tenderloin wrapped in bacon, served with a balsamic vinegar and honey reduction.
About Cantina Mesa
The name Mesa, which in both Sardinian and in Spanish means table or dinner table, sums up in just four letters the very soul of the winery. Nourishment, a meal among friends, maternal love, simplicity, and fragrant odours. Of the Sardinian earth. Mesa was thus born as a declaration of love for Sardinia, as a marriage of beauty and goodness, as a celebration of the island’s generosity and of its culture, expressed through one of its most noble cultural treasures, wine. It represents the fulfilment of a dream of Gavino Sanna, Italy’s most celebrated and awarded advertising professional, who dreamed of creating something extraordinary, as unique and simple as his own land, and for his own land. Mesa’s vineyards extend for more than 78 hectares (192 acres), of which 66 (163 acres) are owned by the estate. The vines are trained vertically, mostly using Cordon Spur and to some extent also alberello (bush training), depending on the local conditions and the exposure.
